Wuchang Temple Introduction

Wuchang Temple is dedicated to Zhenwu, the Supreme Emperor of the Dark Heaven. It collapsed during the 921 earthquake, but fortunately, devotees managed to rescue the statue during the aftershocks. After several years, it has preserved its post-disaster appearance and is the only popular site in Jiji Township that retains remnants of the 921 earthquake. It is said that the beard of the deity has grown longer over time, and since devotees heard this, the number of worshippers has increased dramatically, making it a famous earthquake memorial site in Jiji Township.
