Dazhangshu Temple Introduction
The old camphor tree is over 700 years old, stands 30 meters tall, and is located in front of the Dazhong Temple, which is thriving in incense offerings in Jiji. In the early Guangxu period, devotees renovated the original small shrine into the current temple, transforming Dazhong Yeh into a statue for worship. Due to its ancient age, local residents regard the old camphor tree as a deity and affectionately call it "Camphor Tree God," believing it to be especially effective in finding lost items. The 23rd day of the 8th lunar month is celebrated as the birthday of the Camphor Tree God and is also the day of Jiji's annual grand worship. Countless visitors come to pay their respects, and the stalls, crowds, and stage for fulfilling vows in front of the temple make the streets of Jiji extremely crowded. This day is the most important day for the town of Jiji.
