Sanyuan Temple Introduction
Sanyuan Temple was relocated and rebuilt on its current site in 1976, covering an area of 500 pings. The temple enshrines Yao, Shun, and Yu, and is commonly referred to by the villagers as Sanjiegong. The ancestors brought the incense burner from Fujian and crossed the sea to Taiwan, with the golden statues carved in Taiwan. It serves as the center of traditional beliefs for the villagers. Every year, a temple fair is held during the Lantern Festival, predominantly honoring Emperor Yao, where the entire village participates in a grand celebration and invites friends and relatives for a meal. According to the locals, Sanjiegong answers all prayers, and the temple is always bustling with incense offerings, especially when young men are conscripted into the military. Their families often come to the temple to seek peace talismans, and all are able to return home safely after their service. Therefore, Sanjiegong has become the largest temple in Taiping Village.
