Sanyuan Temple Introduction
Sanyuan Temple was relocated and rebuilt at its current site in the 65th year of the Republic of China, covering an area of 500 ping. The temple enshrines Emperor Yao, Emperor Shun, and Yu the Great, and is commonly referred to by the villagers as Sanjiegong. The ancestors brought the incense burner from Fujian across the sea to Taiwan, and the statue was carved in Taiwan. It serves as the traditional belief center for the villagers. Every year, the temple fair is held during the Lantern Festival, primarily honoring Emperor Yao, where the whole village gathers for worship and invites relatives and friends to dine. According to the villagers, Sanjiegong is responsive to every request, and the temple sees a great influx of worshippers daily, especially when men are conscripted into the military. Their families often come to the temple to seek peace talismans, and all can return home safely after their service. Thus, Sanjiegong has become the largest temple in Taiping Village.
