A Shui Workshop Introduction
A-Shui Workshop x Creative Culture Dongtang 191, established in 2013, integrates local creative resources and energy from Taitung to emerge as a cultural and creative platform, giving a voice to local artists and creators while developing hands-on experience courses to increase public participation. With a combined operation of product exhibitions and cultural spaces, it injects new vitality into Taitung's cultural and creative industry. Through A-Shui Workshop x Creative Culture Dongtang 191, the goal is to create a space for Taitung artists to freely create and interact, realizing the local implementation of arts and culture. A-Shui (Chen Zheng-Rui) focuses on indigenous spirit as the core of his creations, expressed through wood carving, metal sculpture, installation art, and commercial space renovation. In 2013, the A-Shui Workshop team launched the "Simple Life. Reclaiming the Touch" series, using driftwood combined with local elements and creating eco-friendly works through indigenous modes of thought, making clever and creative contributions to Taitung's lifestyle with materials bestowed by nature. Living in harmony with seasonal changes reflects a new attitude for modern people to reassess life and existence, as well as a long-standing desire to return to nature and embrace the land.
