Zai Fa Hao Rice Dumplings Introduction
Founded during the Qing Tongzhi period, this restaurant has a history of over 130 years. Now in its fourth generation, Wu Liyuan has transformed traditional zongzi into much larger meat dumplings, making it well-known in the local snack streets of Tainan. The "Eight Treasure Zongzi" includes scallops, mushrooms, dried shrimp, fish flakes, braised pork, chestnuts, salted eggs, and lean meat. Each zongzi is wrapped in three layers of bamboo leaves, with the outer layers being fresh sweet bamboo leaves and the inner layer being boiled bamboo leaves, weighing about 750 grams. The restaurant emphasizes that the deliciousness of the meat zongzi is enhanced by a drizzle of meat sauce, and the luxurious fillings of the Eight Treasure Zongzi, combined with high-quality glutinous rice and three layers of bamboo leaves, create a seamless pairing of flavors and sweetness with the meat sauce.
