Zai Fa Hao Sticky Rice Dumplings Introduction
Founded during the Qing Dynasty's Tongzhi era, this restaurant has a history of over 130 years. Now in its fourth generation, Wu Liyuan has transformed the traditional zongzi into a much larger meat zongzi, making it well-known in the snack streets of Tainan. The renowned Eight Treasures Zongzi includes ingredients such as scallops, mushrooms, dried shrimp, crispy flat fish, braised pork, chestnuts, salted egg, and lean meat. Wrapped in three layers of bamboo leaves, with the outer two layers made of fresh sweet bamboo leaves and the inner layer cooked, each zongzi weighs about 12 taels. The restaurant emphasizes that the deliciousness of the meat zongzi shines when drizzled with meat sauce, perfectly pairing the luxurious fillings of the Eight Treasures Zongzi, prime glutinous rice, and the three layers of zongzi leaves to create an exquisite combination of flavors and sweetness.
