Zai Fa Hao Rice Dumpling Introduction

Established during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, this restaurant has a history of over 130 years. Now in its fourth generation, Wu Liyuan has transformed the traditional rice dumplings into much larger meat dumplings, making them well-known in the snack street of Tainan. The "Eight Treasure Dumpling" includes ingredients like dried scallops, mushrooms, shrimp, crispy fish, meat sauce, chestnuts, salted eggs, and lean meat. It is wrapped with three layers of bamboo leaves, where the outer two layers are fresh gui bamboo leaves and the inner layer is cooked bamboo leaves, weighing about 750 grams. The restaurant emphasizes that the deliciousness of the meat dumpling is enhanced simply by drizzling it with meat juice, seamlessly combining the luxurious fillings of the Eight Treasure Dumpling with premium long glutinous rice and three layers of bamboo leaves, creating a delightful and sweet taste that pairs perfectly with the meat juice.
