Zai Fa Hao Rice Dumplings Introduction

Founded during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, this restaurant has a history of over 130 years. Now in its fourth generation, Wu Li-Yuan has transformed the traditional zongzi into a larger meat dumpling, making it well-known in the food streets of Tainan. The "Eight Treasures Zongzi" includes ingredients such as dried scallops, shiitake mushrooms, dried shrimp, fried flatfish, braised pork, chestnuts, salted egg, and lean meat. Each zongzi is wrapped in three layers of bamboo leaves, with the outer layers being fresh khaoyao bamboo leaves and the inner layer being cooked bamboo leaves, weighing approximately 750 grams each. The shop emphasizes that the deliciousness of the meat dumpling is enhanced simply by drizzling it with meat sauce, and the luxurious fillings of the Eight Treasures Zongzi, combined with high-quality glutinous rice and the three layers of zongzi leaves, create a seamless pairing with the savory sweetness and meat sauce.
