Wenfeng Tea House Introduction
The Chen family's ancestors immigrated from Quanzhou, Fujian during the Qing Dynasty's Tongzhi period and settled next to the wealthy merchant Wu Shangxin's "Wu Garden" in Fangqiaotou, which has a history of 138 years. Wenfeng Tea House has been passed down through generations until the third generation, and the fourth generation began to be inherited in order by siblings. The fourth generation's Chen Fulian first passed it to his eldest son Chen Yulin, who then handed it over to his sister who managed it for over twenty years, before it was passed on to the current sixth generation, Chen Yuxiong and Huang Yumei. The store is small but features various antique tea utensils, tea cakes, old tea barrels, and other tea artifacts. For those interested in the development of tea culture in Tainan, a visit to Wenfeng Tea House is recommended.
