Bao Lai Xiang Bakery Introduction

Zhaobi Xiang Bing, commonly known as "Puffed Cake," is the size of a meat bun, with a smooth surface in a brown sugar color. The top is stamped with the four-character shop name "Baolai Xiang." This snack was a must-have for postpartum women in the old city of Tainan. The cake is filled with fragrant sesame oil, and a small hole is poked in the cake to crack an egg inside, which is then fried until cooked. It is said to have effects like strengthening the waist, promoting bone health, and contracting the uterus, making it a traditional therapeutic food in Tainan. Another well-known product is "Garlic Ribs," made by mixing garlic paste with flour, twisted into a spiral shape, deep-fried, and then coated in powdered sugar to cool. Its resemblance to deer antlers gives it the name "Garlic Ribs." Its characteristics are crispiness, fragrance, and sweetness, and it is the best-selling snack at Baolai Xiang Bing Store. Other traditional snacks, such as black bean paste, green bean cakes, and meat pies, are also quite distinctive. Don’t forget to try them when visiting the Xuansheng Temple market.
