Aizai Cheng Shrimp Rice Introduction

The origin of the name "Aijicheng" comes from Mr. Yeh's given name "Cheng," which means "to become" in Mandarin, combined with his short stature. At that time, customers called him "Aijicheng," a nickname that has become widely recognized today as Aijicheng Shrimp Rice. Aijicheng Shrimp Rice began in 1922, when the first generation owner, Yeh Cheng, learned his skills at the "Mingyuelou" Japanese restaurant during the Japanese colonial period. Later, he started as a small vendor serving Japanese cuisine and developed a unique and delicious shrimp rice based on Japanese flavors. He set up shop at the Ximen Market and, after several relocations, established his presence on the roadside of Zhongzheng Road and Hai'an Road, commonly known as Xinting.
