Aizai Cheng Shrimp Rice Introduction

The origin of the name "Aizai Cheng" comes from Mr. Yeh, whose given name is Cheng. He is not very tall, and at that time, customers called him "Aizai Cheng," a nickname derived from the phonetic similarity to his name. This nickname has become widely recognized as "Aizai Cheng Shrimp Rice." Aizai Cheng Shrimp Rice originated in 1922 when the first-generation owner, Yeh Cheng, apprenticed at the Japanese restaurant "Mingyue Lou" during the Japanese colonial period. Later, he started as a small stall selling Japanese cuisine and developed a unique and delicious shrimp rice dish based on Japanese flavors. He set up his stall at the Ximen market and, after several relocations, emerged along the roadside of Zhongzheng Road and Hai'an Road, commonly referred to as "Xinting."
