Ah-Zai Cheng Shrimp Rice Introduction
The origin of the name "Aizai Cheng" comes from Mr. Yeh's single name "Cheng," as he was not very tall. At that time, customers began calling him by a nickname derived from the phonetics of "Yeh Cheng," which became widely known today as "Aizai Cheng Shrimp Rice." Aizai Cheng Shrimp Rice originated in 1922 when the first-generation owner, Yeh Cheng, learned his culinary skills at the "Mingyue Lou" Japanese restaurant during the Japanese occupation. Later, he started as a small stall selling Japanese-style cuisine and developed a unique and delicious shrimp rice based on Japanese flavors. He set up a stall at the Ximending market, and after several relocations, he emerged along the streets of Zhongzheng Road and Hai'an Road, commonly referred to as Xintiang.
