A-Zai Cheng Shrimp Rice Introduction

The origin of the name "Aizai Cheng" comes from Mr. Ye's single name "Cheng." He was not tall, and at that time, customers nicknamed him "Aizai Cheng" based on a pun with his name. This nickname has become widely known as "Aizai Cheng Shrimp Rice" today. Aizai Cheng Shrimp Rice originated in 1922, when the first-generation owner, Ye Cheng, learned his craft at the "Mingyuelou" Japanese restaurant during the Japanese colonial period. Later, he started as a street vendor of Japanese cuisine, developing a unique and delicious shrimp rice based on Japanese flavors. He set up a stall at the Ximen Market, which later moved to the roadside areas of Zhongzheng Road and Hai'an Road, commonly referred to as "Xinting."
