Autumn Book Room Introduction

Utopia in Chiayi, an artistic salon for the youth, is a bookstore founded entirely without commercial intention. It is purely a chance encounter, established by Qiu Siqi, the owner of Taichung 107 Gallery, as a platform for young people in Chiayi to exchange ideas and engage in the arts. The space combines elements of coffee, music, and books. Under the artist's self-proclaimed "impractical" transformation, Qiu Book Room is an acute-angled triangular old house standing amidst the traffic on Linye West Road, resembling a ship that sets sail at sunset, inviting you to dream while awake. Whether immersing yourself in the sea of books, contemplating in silence, or lounging at the bar seeking caffeine or the collision of contemporary thoughts! Qiu Book Room does not have specific business operations, allowing freedom to express once aboard. What deserves careful appreciation is the atypical bookstore space created by Cai Zhi-xian, where dialogues between old and new materials, the mix of rigid lines and gentle curves, the angle of the slanted stairs, the light and shadows pouring in from outside, and freely displayed books come together, culminating in the suspended ship machinery on the third floor, located at the apex of the acute triangle. During dusk, standing at the bow to admire the sunset is a magnificent sight. Book lovers should take the time to treasure hunt, as these books are the collection of founder Qiu Siqi, generously provided for reading. If you encounter him in Qiu Book Room, be sure to sit down and chat, as this is the correct way to unlock the artistic salon experience. *Operating hours: By appointment only.
