Autumn Book House Introduction

Chiayi Utopia, an Art Salon for Young People This is a bookstore that operates entirely without commercial motives, created purely by chance by Mr. Chiu Siky, the owner of the Taichung 107 Art Gallery, serving as a cultural exchange platform and art salon for the youth of Chiayi. The space is filled with elements of coffee, music, and books. Under the artist's self-proclaimed "non-functional" transformation, the old building shaped like a sharp triangle stands amidst the traffic on Linye West Road, resembling a ship that sets sail at sunset, dreaming awake together. Whether you're immersed in a sea of books, silently reflecting, or lounging at the bar seeking caffeine or the clash of contemporary thought, there are no specific business operations at the Autumn Book Room; once aboard, you can freely express yourself. A highlight to appreciate is the atypical bookstore space crafted by designer Cai Zhixian, featuring a dialogue between new and old materials, a blend of rigid lines and gentle curves, the angle of sloped stairs, the light and shadows cast from the windows, and the freely displayed books. The ultimate focal point rests on the suspended ship machinery on the third floor at the apex of the triangle, where one can watch the sunset from the bow of the "ship" in the evening, a breathtaking sight. Book lovers should take the time to treasure hunt as these books are part of Mr. Chiu Siky's personal collection, generously made available for reading. If you encounter him at the Autumn Book Room, be sure to sit down and chat; that is the proper way to unlock the art salon experience. *Business Hours: Reservation Required Image Source: Chiayi City Government Tourism News Department | Photographer: Mag
