Autumn Book Room Introduction
Chiayi Utopia, an artistic salon for the youth, is a bookstore that starts from pure coincidence, founded by Qiu Sike, the owner of Taichung 107 Gallery. It serves as a communication platform and artistic salon for the young people of Chiayi. The space gathers elements of coffee, music, and books. Under the artistic transformation deemed "impractical" by the artists, the Old Triangular House of Qiu Shushi stands amidst the traffic on Linye West Road. Its architecture resembles a ship that sets sail at sunset, inviting everyone to dream together while awake. Whether you're immersed in the sea of books, silently contemplating, or lounging at the bar seeking caffeine or the clash of contemporary thoughts, Qiu Shushi has no specific business agenda, allowing for free expression once aboard. What’s worth admiring is the atypical bookstore space crafted by Xiao Yu Cai Zhixian, with dialogues between old and new materials, a mix of rigid lines and gentle curves, the tilted angle of the stairs, the interplay of light and shadow from the windows, freely displayed books, and ultimately focusing on the suspended ship mechanism on the third floor, located at the pinnacle of the triangular peak. During dusk, standing at the bow of the ship to watch the sunset presents a magnificent scene. Book lovers should take their time to treasure hunt; these books are the collection of founder Qiu Sike, selflessly provided for reading. If you meet him at Qiu Shushi, be sure to sit down and have a chat, as that is the correct way to open up the artistic salon. *Business hours: reservation required.
