Kaiming Honghuang Rock Introduction
During the Tongzhi period, when the Japanese forces invaded Taiwan, Wu Guangliang was commissioned to plan the mountain opening and indigenous affairs. He personally inscribed on a giant rock by the banks of the Zhuoshui River at the foot of Caoling in Jiji. Subsequently, he sent people into the mountains to explore the roads, and in the first year of Guangxu, he established the "Batongguan Ancient Trail," benefiting future generations with its remarkable spirit, and paving the way for historical records. The Ministry of the Interior designated this monument as a national heritage site and, in 2001, the Water Resources Agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs funded the environmental restoration, greening, and drainage improvement around the historical site. The inscription of "Paving the Way for Historical Records" is powerful and rich in ancient charm. In front stands the old bridge pier of Jiji Bridge, and behind is Shitou Mountain. Hikers may consider pausing here to admire and reflect on the ancient history.
