Kaihui Honghuang Tablet Introduction
During the Tongzhi era, with the Japanese army invading Taiwan, Wu Guangliang was commissioned to plan the opening of mountain paths and pacification of the indigenous people. He personally inscribed on a large stone by the Zhuoshui River at the foot of Jiji Pucaoling. Subsequently, he sent people into the mountains to explore routes, and in the first year of Guangxu, he established the "Batongguan Ancient Trail," which benefited future generations and demonstrated his enduring spirit. The Ministry of the Interior designated this stone inscription as a national historic site, and in 2001, the Water Resources Agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs funded the improvement of the surrounding environment of the monument, including landscaping and drainage enhancements. The calligraphy on the inscription of the "Baidong Guan" is bold and powerful, rich in ancient charm. In front of it stands the old pier of JiJi Bridge, and behind it is Lion's Head Mountain. Hikers should take a moment here to pause and reflect on the ancients.
