Kai Ping Hong Huang Stone Introduction

During the Tongzhi period, the Japanese military invaded Taiwan. Wu Guangliang was commissioned to plan the opening of mountain paths and to pacify the indigenous people. He inscribed his name on a large rock by the Zhuoshui River at the foot of Ciji Pu and later sent people into the mountains to explore routes. In the first year of Guangxu, he opened the "Batongguan Ancient Road," which benefited future generations with its remarkable spirit. The Ministry of the Interior designated this stone tablet as a national heritage site, and in 2001, the Water Resources Agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs subsidized the improvement of the surrounding environment, greening, and drainage facilities. The inscription on the stone tablet is powerful and rich in ancient charm. In front of it lies the old bridge pier of Ciji Bridge, while Lion's Head Mountain is nearby. Hikers are encouraged to pause here to appreciate and reminisce about the ancients.
