Qigu Sanbudeng Oysters Cake Introduction
Qigu Lagoon is a remnant of the Taijung Inner Sea, with its tranquil and beautiful scenery astonishing visitors. "Taking a bamboo raft to explore the lagoon and enjoying the sunset at Wangziliaoshan" has become a new tourism formula, attracting visitors from all over Taiwan to this legendary secret paradise. Every visitor who has been to Qigu Lagoon is mesmerized by the picturesque oyster racks, stationary nets, rich ecology on the sandy shores, and the crescent-shaped sand dunes. They also carry wonderful memories of the seafood sold by the fishermen at Wangziliaoshan, including oyster pancakes, oyster crispy, oyster rolls, squid balls, and fried tilapia. The Yang brothers, Yang Guoyuan and Yang Ruixing, are local fishermen from Longshan who make a living by farming oysters and setting stationary nets for catch at Qigu Lagoon. As tourism began to flourish in Qigu Lagoon during the 1990s, Yang Ruixing shifted to operating rubber rafts for passengers to explore the lagoon. To enhance the enjoyment for visitors landing at Wangziliaoshan and allow them to taste the freshly caught seafood from the unpolluted waters of Qigu Lagoon, Yang Guoyuan started selling fried oyster pancakes, oyster crispy, and tilapia in 2003. Due to its fresh and delicious offerings, it quickly gained a reputation, becoming another highlight for lagoon visitors. Today, Qigu Lagoon has gradually shrunk and shallowed due to coastal erosion, and the landscape of Wangziliaoshan has drastically changed.
