Ying Shan Temple Introduction

Ying Shan Temple, commonly known as "Liujia Ximiao," is located by the coast of Lücuo, backed by Ying Mountain that resembles a soaring oriole. Built during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, it is one of the ancient temples in Kinmen. It serves as a common center of faith for the communities of Liu'ao, Pubian, Lücuo, Houzhai, Changfuxi, and Yangshan. The most prominent feature in front of the temple is the Stone General, which was said to have been established to rival the Houshawo Wind Lion God and eventually tamed it, jointly guarding the village. Upon closer inspection, you can see that atop the helmet of the Stone General is a small stone lion, said to represent the Houshawo Wind Lion God! It is believed that the stone material of the Stone General originally came from a spiritual stone on Bihshan (Hou Mountain) by the coast, which emitted a red light at night, and during the day, people would see a figure lying on the stone, but it would vanish upon approach. Following divine guidance, it was split into two; one half was carved into the Stone General for Ying Shan Temple, while the other half became the Bihshan Wind Lion God.
