Yingshan Temple Introduction

Yingshan Temple, commonly known as "Liujia West Palace," is located by the beach in Lücuo and backed by Yingshan, resembling a flying warbler. Built during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, it is one of the ancient temples in Kinmen. It serves as a communal center of faith for six localities: Liu'ao, Pubian, Lücuo, Houzhai, Changfu Village, and Yangshan. The most prominent feature in front of the temple is the Stone General, which, according to legend, was established to compete with the Housha Wind Lion God. Ultimately, it subdued the Wind Lion God, jointly guarding the village. A careful look at its helmet reveals a small stone lion, which is said to represent the Housha Wind Lion God! It is said that the Stone General's stone originally came from a sacred rock on the Bishi (Houshan) coastline, which glows red at night, and during the day, a figure is seen lying on the stone, but disappears upon closer inspection. Following divine guidance, it was split into two pieces, one carved into the Stone General of Yingshan Temple and the other into the Bishi Wind Lion God.
