Yingshan Temple Introduction
The temple known as "Liujia Ximiao" (鶯山廟), located at the seaside of Lücuo, is backed by Ying Mountain, resembling a phoenix about to take flight. Built during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, it is one of the ancient temples in Kinmen. The temple serves as a common center of worship for the six areas of Liu'ao, Pubian, Lücuo, Houzhai, Changfu Village, and Yangshan. The most prominent feature in front of the temple is the Stone General (石將軍), which was said to be established to combat the winds and lions of Housha. Ultimately, it subdued the wind lion and now guards the village alongside it. If you closely observe the helmet on the Stone General, there is a small stone lion on top, which is said to represent the wind lion of Housha! It is rumored that the stone material of the Stone General originally came from a mystical stone on the coast of Bishan (Houshan), which glows red at night. During the day, a person could always be seen lying on the stone, but would vanish upon closer inspection. Under divine guidance, the stone was divided into two: one part was carved into the Stone General of Ying Mountain Temple, while the other was carved into the Bishan Wind Lion.
