Ren'ai Village (Teppanyaki) Introduction
Recreating the Coastal Fishing Village Splendor: Ren'ai Village in Nangan, formerly known as "Tieban," is surrounded by mountains on three sides and faces the sea on one side. During low tide, a large area of sand and concrete is revealed on the shore, shimmering under the sunlight like a giant iron plate, which is how it got its name. Later, it was renamed Ren'ai Village, which once served as a large vegetable market and the location of the county government, flourishing for a time. However, as the political and economic center shifted to Shanlong Village, Ren'ai Village returned to obscurity. The village is dotted with large traditional Fujian-style stone houses. In recent years, under the planning of the government and interested individuals, efforts have been made to reshape the commercial district and install public art, such as integrating old stone houses with military camouflage themes, hanging large old photographs outdoors, and recreating traditional archways. Everywhere you look, you can see the residents' dedication to preserving and nurturing the settlement, revitalizing Ren'ai Village; under the careful stewardship of the villagers, some complete village buildings have been preserved. Strolling through Ren'ai Village, you can easily capture the beautiful scenery formed by the interplay of modern architecture and old houses. Although the fishing village scene is no longer visible, the refinement of time brings a natural tranquility. Matsu Story Museum and Tieban Living Museum: Relive the Simplicity and Read Old Stories Located near the entrance of Ren'ai Village in the Matsu Daily News office, the "Matsu Story Museum" features exhibits on the history of Matsu's newspaper industry on the first floor and displays artifacts and old photographs from the wartime period on the second floor.
