Ren'ai Village (Teppanyaki) Introduction
Recreating the Glamour of Coastal Fishing Villages: Another Small Settlement in Nangan - Ren'ai Village, formerly known as "Tieban," is surrounded by mountains on three sides and faces the sea on one side. When the tide recedes, a large area of sandy concrete is exposed along the shore, shining like a big iron plate under the sunlight, which is how it got its name. Later, it was renamed Ren'ai Village. It used to be the location of a large vegetable market and the county government, flourishing for a time, but as the political and economic center shifted to Shanlong Village, Ren'ai Village returned to a quieter existence. The village is dotted with large Eastern Fujian-style stone houses, and in recent years, with the planning by the government and concerned individuals, the appearance of the commercial area has been reshaped. Artistic installations have been placed, such as integrating old stone houses with battlefield camouflage, large old photographs hung outdoors, and replica traditional archways, showcasing the residents' dedication to preserving and enhancing the settlement, which has revitalized Ren'ai Village. Under the careful maintenance of the villagers, some complete structures from the village have been preserved, creating a beautiful scenery where modern buildings and old houses intertwine. Although the fishing village scene is no longer visible, the passage of time has carved out a natural tranquility. Matsu Story Museum and Tieban Life Hall: Revisiting Simple Old Stories Near the entrance of Ren'ai Village, within the Matsu Daily News office, is the "Matsu Story Museum," where the first floor focuses on the history of Matsu's newspaper industry, and the second floor displays relevant artifacts and old photographs from the wartime period in Matsu. Not far away, the old houses have been renovated, showcasing local cultural artifacts in the "Tieban Life Hall," which transports visitors into a time tunnel to experience various aspects of life in wartime Matsu.
