Ira Tribe Introduction
Ira Tribe is located on the banks of Beilai-Liao Creek and is the first tribe you encounter when entering Wutai Township in Pingtung County. The figures displayed at the welcome gate indicate that this tribe is rich in indigenous culture. The stone-carved statues represent the Rukai people and the mangrove snake, while the side wall features bas-reliefs depicting the Rukai Harvest Festival, traditional clothing, and daily life. Before visitors even set foot in the Ira Tribe, they can get a glimpse of Rukai culture here. The Ira Waterfall Group features several breathtaking waterfalls, including Wutai Waterfall, Ali Waterfall, and Feilong Waterfall, each offering a unique visual aesthetic. A visit is sure to leave an unforgettable impression; in summer, you can enjoy the refreshing spray of water mist that brings relief from the sweltering heat—a truly heartwarming experience. Wutai Waterfall, also known as "Shenshan Waterfall," is approximately 40 meters high, with water cascading from the top of a rocky cliff. The powerful water flow creates an impressive sound as it splashes into the pool below, and the water droplets resemble blooming fireworks, leaping energetically everywhere. Ali Waterfall is uniquely intertwined with the mining road, creating a landscape where there is a path through the waterfall. Notably, Ali Waterfall features dual streams; the left stream flows year-round, while the right stream temporarily dries up in winter. The best time to appreciate Ali Waterfall is in the afternoon, as the mist created by the mountain breezes brings a mesmerizing beauty that is hard to forget. Feilong Waterfall, also known as "Head-Hanging Waterfall," originates from the Rukai cultural tradition of hanging heads. This 25-meter high waterfall flows mostly in an S-shape and cascades down from the mountaintop, resembling a silver dragon diving from the sky into the water below. During the rainy season, the mist generated by Feilong Waterfall envelops the entire valley, creating an enchanting and dreamlike scene.
