Ira'an Tribe Introduction
Ira Tribe is located by the Bei'ai Liao River and is the first tribe to enter Wutai Township in Pingtung County. The figurines displayed at the welcome gate indicate that the tribe is rich in indigenous culture. This is a stone-carved statue of the Rukai tribe and a green tree viper, and on the side wall, there are reliefs depicting the Rukai Harvest Festival, traditional clothing, and daily life situations, allowing visitors to gain insight into Rukai culture even before they set foot in the Ira Tribe. The Ira Waterfall Group features several beautiful waterfalls, such as Wutai Waterfall, Ali Waterfall, and Flying Dragon Waterfall, each providing a unique visual appeal. A visit promises to be a captivating experience; in summer, the refreshing feeling of mist cooling the skin is an enjoyable escape from the sweltering heat. Wutai Waterfall, also known as "Divine Mountain Waterfall," stands about 40 meters tall. Water cascades from the top of the rock wall, and due to the strong flow and impact, the sound of the water is thunderous, and the splashes resemble blooming fireworks, dynamic and lively. Ali Waterfall is unique with its paths intersecting the mining road, creating a landscape of waterfalls amidst the roads. Notably, Ali Waterfall features two streams: the left waterfall never dries up throughout the year, while the right waterfall temporarily runs dry during winter. The best time to admire Ali Waterfall is in the afternoon when the mountain mist creates an unforgettable ethereal beauty. Flying Dragon Waterfall, also known as "Head Waterfall," is rooted in the Rukai culture of hanging human heads. Standing about 25 meters tall, the majority of the water flows in an S-shape before tumbling down the mountain, resembling a silver flying dragon diving from the sky into the water below. During high-water periods, the mist generated by Flying Dragon Waterfall envelops the entire valley, creating a dreamlike and enchanting scenery.
