Ira Tribe Introduction
Ira Village is located by the banks of the Beiai Liao River and is the first village you encounter when entering Wutai Township in Pingtung County. The statues placed at the welcome gate reveal that this village is rich in indigenous culture. It features a stone statue of the Rukai people and a hundred pacer snake, crafted from slate, while the side walls are adorned with reliefs depicting Rukai harvest festivals, traditional clothing, and daily life. Before visiting Ira Village, tourists can familiarize themselves with the Rukai culture through these artistic representations. The Ira Waterfall Group boasts several breathtaking falls, such as Wutai Waterfall, Ali Waterfall, and Feilong Waterfall, each providing a distinct visual experience that is sure to leave visitors enchanted. Additionally, during the summer, visiting this area allows one to feel the refreshing mist on their skin, making it a delightful escape from the scorching heat. Wutai Waterfall, also known as "Shenshan Waterfall," has a height of approximately 40 meters. The water cascades down dramatically from the top of the cliff. Due to the strong current and powerful impact, the sound of the water is thunderous as it crashes into the pool below, with the splashes resembling bursting fireworks, creating a dynamic scene. Ali Waterfall features a unique landscape where a path intersects with the waterfall, allowing visitors to experience "a path within a waterfall." Interestingly, Ali Waterfall has twin streams; the left stream flows year-round while the right one temporarily dries up in winter. The best time to enjoy Ali Waterfall is in the afternoon when the mountain mist creates an unforgettable mystical beauty. Feilong Waterfall, also known as "Human Head Waterfall," is named after the Rukai culture of hanging human heads. With a height of about 25 meters, most of the water flows in an S-shape before cascading down, resembling a silver dragon diving from the sky into the water below. During the wet season, the mist produced by Feilong Waterfall envelops the entire valley, creating a dreamlike and enchanting scene.
