Dawen Village Introduction

In the Dewen Tribal Village of Sandimen Township, Pingtung County, the Dewen Scenic Area allows visitors to experience the beauty of the mountainous landscape. Located at an altitude of 800 meters, the Dewen Village features the Guanwang Mountain Ancient Trail, the Dewen Hunter School, and De Lai Park, showcasing the unique elements of the Rukai culture within its 1,560-hectare area. The road to Dewen Village winds through the mountains, offering views of majestic ridges and deep valleys. As winter approaches, the area enters a vibrant flower season, with plum blossoms, cherry blossoms, and apricot blossoms blooming in succession, adorning the mountain tops in a picturesque manner that is intoxicating. The village was once home to a century-old banyan tree, which collapsed due to disease; however, efforts in pruning and grafting have helped restore the tree's former appearance. The Dewen Village is primarily inhabited by the Paiwan people, with indigenous artifacts visible, such as stone slab walls, tables, chairs, and totems. It's important to note that this area is designated as a mountainous control zone, and a mountain entry permit is required for access. Notably, the Dewen Village has set up numerous indigenous totems and installation art pieces, merging the natural beauty with local cultural characteristics, allowing visitors to appreciate the natural scenery while also experiencing the uniqueness of indigenous culture.
