Lidong Mountain Trail Introduction
Lidong Mountain has an elevation of only 659 meters and features three hiking entrances. The trail accessible from the back door of Jiayi Elementary School is flat and wide, lined with mango and acacia trees, making it a convenient starting point for most hikers. Another, more challenging trail is located beside the Jiayi Police Station; it was originally an aboriginal hunting trail with steep continuous slopes, averaging over 40 degrees. Lidong Mountain is named for its resemblance to a bamboo hat, and on clear days, one can enjoy a distant view of the entire Kaohsiung-Pingtung Plain. On holidays, hikers from urban areas crowd the mountain paths, which are of moderate difficulty, making it an excellent spot for city dwellers to come for hiking and fitness.
