Lidong Mountain Hiking Trail Introduction
Lidong Mountain, with an elevation of only 659 meters, has three hiking entrances. The trail accessed from the back gate of Jiayi Elementary School is flat and open, lined with dense mango and acacia trees, making it convenient for parking and a popular starting point for most hikers. Another, more challenging trail is located next to the Jiayi Police Station; it originally served as a hunting trail for indigenous peoples, featuring continuous steep climbs with an average gradient of over 40 degrees. Lidong Mountain is named for its resemblance to a conical hat, and on clear days, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire Gaoping Plain. On holidays, hikers from the city crowd the mountain paths, which offer moderate difficulty, making it an ideal place for urban dwellers to go hiking and stay fit.
