Donghe Bridge Scenic Area Introduction
The Donghe Bridge Scenic Area, located at the estuary of the Mawu Ku Creek, is an important hub connecting Chenggong Township and Donghe Township in Taitung, and it is a must-visit attraction along the East Coast. The old and new Donghe Bridges span the creek, each showcasing its own unique style; one is ancient and gray, while the other is modern and red. The old bridge, built in 1930, features a design that cleverly integrates the arch and water support structure, harmonizing with the landscape and giant boulders in the creek, and is listed as one of the "100 Historic Buildings of Taiwan." The new bridge boasts a vibrant red steel arch design, characterized by simplicity and modernity. The old bridge is now closed to traffic and has become a space for walking and enjoying the scenery. Strolling on the bridge offers views of the Pacific Ocean and the Coastal Mountain Range, alongside the green waters of Mawu Ku Creek dotted with giant boulders, set against the magnificent mountain scenery of Taiyuan Valley. Surrounded by mountains, with a gentle breeze blowing, one can immerse themselves in the tranquility and harmony of nature. To get closer to this beautiful landscape, you can participate in the traditional Amis bamboo raft experience. The bamboo raft, woven from bamboo, wood, and rattan, glides slowly through the clear creek waters and among the muscovite rocks, making you feel as though you have stepped into a landscape painting. ⮕Sign up for the Amis traditional bamboo raft tour.
