Donghe Bridge Scenic Area Introduction
The Donghe Bridge Scenic Area, located at the mouth of the Mawuku River, is an important junction connecting Taitung's Chenggong Township and Donghe Township, and is an unmissable spot on the East Coast journey. The old and new Donghe bridges span the river, one ancient and one modern, one gray and one red, each with its own character. The old bridge, built in 1930, features a design that ingeniously integrates arches with water-laying bridges, harmonizing with the terrain and the large boulders in the river, and has been listed as one of the "Hundred Historical Buildings of Taiwan." The new bridge, with its vibrant red steel arch design, is simple yet modern. The old bridge is now closed to vehicular traffic and has been transformed into a space for walking and enjoying the scenery. Strolling on the bridge, visitors can gaze at the Pacific Ocean and the Coastal Mountain Range, overlook the emerald waters of the Mawuku River flowing gently, with large boulders dotting the riverbed, framing the magnificent mountain scenery of the Taiyuan Valley. Surrounded by mountains, with a gentle breeze, one can immerse themselves in the tranquility and harmony of nature. For a closer experience of this beautiful landscape, you can participate in the traditional Amis bamboo raft experience. The bamboo raft, woven with bamboo, wood, and rattan, glides slowly between the clear stream and mica stones, allowing you to step into a beautiful landscape painting. ⮕Amis Traditional Bamboo Rafting Tour Registration
