Taiyuan Gorge Introduction
Taiyuan Gorge is located on the southern side of Provincial Highway 23, between Taiyuan Village and Donghe Village. It is named for its breathtaking canyon scenery formed by the erosion of the Mawu Creek, with the most stunning views found in the section from Dengxian Bridge to Taiyuan Village. The majestic depth of the gorge complements the abundant flow of clear water, earning it the nickname "Little Tianxiang." As you drive along by car or motorcycle, the steep cliffs are in close proximity, allowing you to experience the fresh air and cool mountain breeze, while listening to the chirping of birds and the sound of cicadas. Upon entering the Taiyuan Basin, the expansive scenery is a sight to behold, with the coastal mountain range layered in verdant greens providing a delightful view. The area around the gorge is also a habitat for Formosan macaques, and you may often see groups of monkeys foraging and moving around in the forests, their adorable antics attracting many visitors for observation and photography. It is recommended to visit the Dengxian Bridge recreational area and Taiyuan Village to enjoy the ecological beauty of the monkeys and Taiyuan Gorge, then head to Taiyuan Village to taste and purchase agricultural products nourished by the clear streams. The large pomelos from October to November are rich in vitamin C and their sweet yet tangy flavor makes them a favorite for repeat purchases. The rice grown in the deep mountains is of exceptional quality, with the misty environment throughout the seasons allowing the grains to absorb moisture, resulting in wonderful taste. A friendly reminder: while observing the monkeys, it's suggested to maintain a safe distance and not to bring any food, as it may attract them and cause unexpected conflicts. If the monkey groups show aggressive behavior, please move away quickly and be especially cautious when taking photographs.
