Jiharaai Introduction
Jilamede Village is located in Fangnan Village of Fuli Township, at the southernmost tip of Hualien County, where the residents are mainly from the Amis tribe. The traditional crop was upland rice, and during the Qing Dynasty and Japanese colonial period, they were introduced to the cultivation techniques of irrigated rice. The rice variety grown here is of excellent quality and was used during the Japanese colonial period as tribute to the Emperor. A short section of the Fudong Road leading to Jiharaai, due to the canyon terrain and the scenery similar to that on the Central Cross-Island Highway, is also referred to as "Little Tianxiang."
