Sanxia Arch Bridge Introduction
The Sanxia Arch Bridge, a unique landmark of Sanxia alongside the Zushi Temple, was constructed on October 7, 1932, during the Shōwa era of Japanese rule and completed on June 28, 1933. It served as a critical transportation route for external traffic at the time. Standing on the arch bridge, one can observe the natural environment of Sanxia; below the bridge flows the important Sanxia River. Looking upstream, the towering Yuanshan Mountain can be seen, while the area to the right is densely populated with buildings, marking the town center of the district. The bridge features a distinctive design concept of three interconnected rainbows, hence it is also known as the Rainbow Bridge. With its elegant and simple shape, it was the main communication route for outgoing traffic in the past. Although the prominence of waterways has declined, the Rainbow Bridge still retains its charm, especially at night when illuminated, resembling three rainbows lighting up the entire Sanxia area, radiating a unique rustic beauty.
