三峽拱橋近照

The Sanxia Arch Bridge, a unique landscape of Sanxia along with the Zushi Temple, was constructed on October 7, 1932, during the Shōwa era of Japanese rule, and completed on June 28, 1933. It served as a vital transportation route at that time. Standing on the arch bridge, one can observe the natural environment features of Sanxia, with the Sanxia River, an important waterway, flowing beneath it. Looking upstream, the towering Yuanshan can be seen, while the right side is densely populated with buildings, marking the area’s market center. This bridge is designed with the concept of three connected rainbows, hence it's also known as the Rainbow Bridge. Its elegant and simple shape was a major artery for external communication in the past. Although the glory of the bridge has diminished since the decline of water transportation, its charm remains, especially at night when illuminated, it appears like three rainbows lighting up the entire Sanxia area, exuding a unique rustic beauty.

Sanxia Arch Bridge Introduction

The Sanxia Arch Bridge, a unique landmark of Sanxia alongside the Zushi Temple, was constructed on October 7, 1932, during the Showa period of Japanese rule and was completed on June 28, 1933. It served as a major transportation route at that time. Standing on the arch bridge, one can appreciate the natural characteristics of Sanxia; below is the important Sanxia River, and looking upstream, Qing Mountain rises ahead. To the right, a dense area of buildings marks the district's commercial center. The bridge features a design based on three interconnected rainbows, which is why it is also known as Rainbow Bridge. Its elegant and simple shape was once a primary route for connecting Sanxia to the outside world. Although it has lost its prominence since the decline of water transport, the bridge still retains its charm, especially at night when illuminated, creating the impression of three rainbows lighting up the entire Sanxia area, exuding a unique rustic beauty.
