Sanxia Old Street Introduction
The Sanxia Old Street, famous for the Golden Bull Horn, is also known as the Sanjiao River Old Street. It has been a prosperous commercial street since the Qing Dynasty. During the Japanese occupation, the street was renovated, and new Western-style buildings gradually emerged, reflecting the glory of Sanxia. Today, stepping into the quaint Sanxia Old Street feels like walking into a time tunnel, with its continuous red brick archways and Baroque-style gates forming a unique image of the old street. Sanxia Old Street gathers historical sites, culinary delights, and cultural essence. In addition to the old buildings, the street is filled with camphor, dyed fabrics, tea shops, traditional Chinese medicine shops, and grocery stores, which were the main industries of the Sanxia area during the Qing Dynasty and Japanese occupation. Visitors are encouraged to walk into nostalgic shops to experience the old charm of Sanxia; they must not miss the traditional flavors on the old street, especially the famous Sanxia Golden Bull Horn and handmade tofu pudding passed down through three generations. Additionally, visitors can explore the Sanxia Historical and Cultural Museum at the entrance of the old street to gain a deeper understanding of the rich history and cultural heritage of the Sanxia region. They can also visit the People's Art Museum located in the middle section of the old street, where in a cafe set in a renovated old house, they can admire delicate artworks by artists and old dental tools used by their grandfather. In the tranquil alleys, it provides visitors with the most comforting experience!
