Sanxia Old Street Introduction
The famous Sanxia Old Street, known for its Bull Horns, is also called Sanjiao Chong Old Street. It has been a thriving commercial street since the Qing Dynasty. During the Japanese occupation, the street underwent renovations, and new Western-style buildings began to rise, showcasing the prosperity of Sanxia. Today, stepping into the quaint Sanxia Old Street feels like walking into a time tunnel, where the continuous red brick arches and Baroque-style pavilions create a unique image of the old street. Sanxia Old Street is filled with historical sites, exquisite food, and cultural highlights. In addition to the old buildings, the street is bustling with camphor, dyeing shops, tea houses, Chinese medicine shops, and grocery stores, which were major industries in the Sanxia area during the Qing Dynasty and the Japanese occupation. Visitors should venture into the nostalgic shops to experience the charm of Sanxia's past; they must not miss the local flavors of Sanxia, such as the diverse and renowned Bull Horns and the hand-made Tofu Pudding passed down through three generations. Additionally, they can visit the "Sanxia Historical Relics Museum" at the entrance of the old street to learn about the rich history and cultural heritage of the Sanxia area. They can also enter the "Common People's Art Museum," located in the middle section of the old street, where a cafe has been renovated from an old house, allowing guests to appreciate the delicate paintings of artists and the dental tools used by the owner’s grandfather in his early years as a dentist, providing a peaceful experience in the quiet alleys!
