Lin Yutang House Introduction
The Lin Yutang House has been closed for renovation since June 1, 2024, with an expected construction period of two years. In 1966, Mr. Lin settled in Taiwan, and this villa was personally designed by him, combining the aesthetics of Chinese siheyuan (courtyard houses) with Western architectural styles, featuring blue tiles and white walls, as well as archways and corridors, blending modern sensibility with classical beauty. The location was chosen for its resemblance to the mountainous scenery of Mr. Lin's hometown in Fujian, Yangmingshan, where he could hear the familiar sounds of Minnan dialect, which brought him great comfort. He once described this residence as "a house with a garden, a garden with a house, a house with a courtyard, a courtyard with trees, trees under the sky, the sky with the moon; how wonderful it is." The balcony was a place Mr. Lin often visited during his lifetime; after dinner, he enjoyed sitting in a rattan chair by the table, pipe in mouth, watching the sunset over Guanyin Mountain. You can also come here to experience such leisure.
