Lin Yutang House Introduction
The Lin Yutang House has been closed for renovations since June 1, 2024, with an expected duration of two years. In 1966, Mr. Lin returned to Taiwan and personally designed this villa, which combines the traditional Chinese courtyard style with Western architectural aesthetics, featuring blue tiles and white walls, and arched corridors that blend modern sensibilities with classic beauty. The location was chosen for its resemblance to the mountainous scenery of Fujian, on Yangmingshan, where the familiar sounds of Min Nan dialect could be heard, giving him great comfort. He once described this residence as "a house with a garden, a garden with a house, a house with a courtyard, a courtyard with trees, trees with the sky, and the sky with the moon, how delightful it is." The balcony was a place Mr. Lin frequently visited during his lifetime; after dinner, he loved to sit in the rattan chair by the table, pipe in mouth, enjoying the sunset sinking behind Guanyin Mountain. You can also come here to experience such leisure.
