Lin Yutang House Introduction
The Lin Yutang House has been closed for renovation since June 1, 2024, with an expected duration of 2 years. In 1966, Mr. Lin returned to Taiwan and personally designed this villa, combining the traditional Chinese courtyard style with Western architectural aesthetics. It features blue tiles and white walls, as well as arched corridors, blending modern sensibilities with classical beauty. The location was chosen for its resemblance to the mountainous scenery of his hometown in Fujian, and here, one can hear the familiar sounds of Min Nan language, which brings him much comfort. He once described this residence as "a house with a garden, a garden with a house, a house with a courtyard, a courtyard with trees, trees with a sky, and the sky with the moon; how delightful it is." The balcony was a favorite spot for Mr. Lin; after dinner, he enjoyed sitting in the rattan chair by the table, pipe in mouth, admiring the sunset over Guanyin Mountain. You can also come here to experience such leisurely moments.
