Sanxia has been one of Taiwan's important hubs for tea and camphor since the Qing Dynasty. The tea farmers in the mountainous areas around Sanxia planted green tea, which has evolved over the years to create world-class century-old tea factories. Among them, Jianan Tea House has been passed down to the fourth generation. Its century-long tea-making history adheres to traditional methods, and its well-known Bi Luo Chun, Longjing green tea, Honey Black Tea, and Oriental Beauty Tea enjoy an international reputation and are frequent winners of Taiwan tea competitions. Notably, Jianan Tea House stood out in the 2006 World Tea Competition held in Nantou, winning the gold medal in the black tea category among fierce competition from 16 participating countries. Its amber tea color and honey-like fragrance, combined with a smooth and full-bodied taste, provided an unmatched comfort that made every sip refreshing. This remarkable Honey Black Tea was subsequently named Jianan Black Tea, establishing a new foundation for the Sanxia tea industry. The fourth-generation owner, Wang Wei-Cheng, mentioned that Jianan Black Tea also won the silver medal in the black tea category at the second “Kaiji Cup” in mainland China in 2007, further enhancing the prestige of Sanxia black tea.
