Sanxia Yong has been one of Taiwan's important distribution centers for tea and camphor since the Qing Dynasty. In the mountainous areas near Sanxia, tea farmers planted green tea extensively, leading to the establishment of world-class century-old tea factories. Jianan Tea House has been passed down to the fourth generation and has a century-old history of tea production, adhering to traditional methods. Its well-known teas, including Bi Luo Chun, Longjing green tea, Honey Oolong, and Oriental Beauty tea, have gained international acclaim, making it a frequent winner in Taiwanese tea competitions. Notably, Jianan Tea House stood out in the 2006 World Tea Competition in Nantou, winning the gold medal in the black tea category amid fierce competition from 16 participating countries. The amber color and honey-like aroma of the tea, along with its smooth and full-bodied taste, offer an immensely satisfying experience, leading to the naming of this remarkable Honey Oolong as Jianan Red Tea, which also laid a new foundation for the Sanxia tea industry. The fourth-generation owner, Wang Wei-Cheng, noted that Jianan Red Tea went on to win the silver medal in the black tea category at the second "Kaizer Cup" in mainland China in 2007, further enhancing the reputation of Sanxia red tea.
