Taiwan's specialty cypress wood was found in studies by scientists from the Soviet Union and Japan in 1930 to contain natural components such as "cypress essential oil," "Hino-kitol," "isohimachalene," "Rhodic acid," and phytoncides, which act as natural antibiotics capable of killing airborne bacteria and fungi, preventing insect invasions in the human body, and inhibiting human viruses. It has calming effects on the autonomic nervous system, anti-inflammatory, diuretic, and disinfectant properties. In Japan, it is widely used in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology. Alishan is the richest area for cypress growth and is a natural treasure in forestry, known worldwide for its "red cypress."
