Chiu Lai Fa Bakery Introduction

In Tainan, there is a saying, "Even the grassland flies want to eat Xian Kou's fragrant cakes." Xian Kou refers to the entrance of the County God Temple, and "Xian Kou's fragrant cakes" refers to the fragrant cakes from "Jiu Lai Fa." These cakes, which are hard to come by, may be considered unaffordable for rural people, or they may indicate something that one wouldn't appreciate even if tasted. In short, fragrant cakes were regarded as a luxury food at that time. "Jiu Lai Fa" still insists on making rice cakes and pastries using a traditional red-brick oven fueled by firewood. Their signature products include white sugar crispy cakes, sugar cakes, crystal cakes, and both black and white sugar fragrant cakes.
