In Tainan, there is a saying: "Even the grassland fly wants to eat the county's fragrant cake." The term "county" refers to the area around the County God Temple, and "county fragrant cake" refers to the fragrant cake from "Jiulafa." This cake, which is hard to obtain, may be something that rural people cannot afford, or it may imply that one would not understand it even if they ate it. In any case, the fragrant cake was considered a premium food at that time. "Jiulafa" still insists on using traditional wood-fired red brick ovens to make various cakes and rice cakes. The signature products include white sugar crisp cake, sesame cake, crystal cake, and black and white sugar fragrant cake.
