Huang Miao TEMPLE Introduction
Old House x Vintage. Music and Cats "The most unrealistic little shop in Chiayi." In February 2017, the abandoned house introduced itself on its fan page. A couple who loves music and vintage clothes rented a long-vacant lumber store, filling it with vintage items, while a corner discreetly displays CDs from independent bands. Inside, there are two cats; the black cat nuzzles up to the owner's feet, while the yellow cat lounges high up on a wooden step, occasionally yawning as if to say: "What does the emperor have to do with me?". Kai Hong, who studied fashion design in university, also pursues a career in music, and selling vintage clothing is just a hobby. He is particularly fascinated by Taiwanese vintage clothing from the 80s and 90s, having once searched through flea markets across northern, central, and southern Taiwan. After collecting too many items, he had to open a shop to share them. He mentioned that at that time, Taiwan was one of the world's leading textile powerhouses, and many global brands came to Taiwan to seek apparel factories for processing. During that era, the concept of copyright was weak, resulting in many imitation products with the same designs and materials produced by factories, some even bearing similar letters to the original brands to deceive consumers. Those absurd logos, in hindsight, are all "beautiful mistakes." In Chiayi, vintage clothing is a niche market, and the abandoned house, dedicated to Taiwanese vintage wear, is truly a niche within a niche.
