Mi Tai Mu Sister Seafood Restaurant

Taitung Foods

In the year 1967, Miss Mi Taimu's family came to Chenggong Township. At first, they sold ice to make a living, but later they encountered an elderly Hakka woman who told them that selling ice only had profits in summer, and they had to think hard for other seasons. She then taught them how to make rice noodles (mi taimu), which led to the legendary tale of Miss Mi Taimu. Later, Mama Liu sold her rice noodles from a food cart on the streets, offering not only rice noodles but also some side dishes. During that time, when a bowl of rice noodles was sold for one Taiwanese dollar, it was said that the highest daily sales could reach over a thousand dollars. Nowadays, earning a thousand dollars a day is considered a good wage, let alone in those days when a dollar had much greater value. Of course, the rice noodles were delicious, but another reason for their success was that at that time, Chenggong Township only had one restaurant and another noodle stall, leaving everyone with limited choices. Gradually, Miss Mi Taimu's business took off.
