Xinpuh Wenchang Temple Introduction

The Xinpudong Wenchang Temple was built during the Daoguang period and is one of the three Wenchang Temples in Hsinchu County. It was rebuilt during the Guangxu period due to its old age, and the reconstructed temple served both as a study and a shrine, representing the early cultural sophistication of Xinpudong. In the early years of the Republic of China, the Wenchang Temple was suddenly destroyed by fire, leading to an active reconstruction in the 84th year of the Republic. The temple primarily worships five deities: Wenchang Dijun, Wenkui Dijun, Zhu Yi Shensun, Wenheng Shengdi, and Fuyou Dijun, representing a polytheistic aspect of Taoism.
