From New Taiwan Dollars, playing cards, Patrick Star, Mr. Krabs, to Angry Birds... even a cake resembling a bowl of instant noodles, Mi Chuan-Rui conjures up whatever is desired like a magician. Artistic cakes are Mi Chuan-Rui's forte, but he excels in other pastry domains as well. In this selection for yolk pastries, his black gold yolk pastry won the hearts of many judges. His egg yolk pastry reflects his personality—low-key yet stable, yet possessing an indescribable flavor. Just looking at the exterior of the black gold yolk pastry, one can sense it is no ordinary treat. The outer crispy, multi-layered black crust is made with bamboo charcoal powder, while the soft, not overly sweet black sesame filling inside resembles black gold (coal). At the center, the bright yellow salted egg yolk is wrapped within, resembling a gold mine. The overall layers are distinct and the colors vibrant, making it hard for anyone to forget!
