Rongsheng Rice Cake Introduction
According to the Guo family, the grandfather's skills were learned from relatives, and regardless of where it all began, Rongsheng Sticky Rice Cake has now become a family heirloom. Mr. Guo possesses the character of a traditional Taiwanese person, placing great emphasis on the quality of ingredients and the preparation process. For instance, he insists on using the best soy sauce, chooses Taiwanese shiitake mushrooms, and selects high-quality glutinous rice. Since glutinous rice is not easy to cook thoroughly, it must be soaked for two hours before steaming, and the steaming time and heat must be carefully monitored; otherwise, the fragrant and chewy taste of the glutinous rice will be lost. The ingredients for the rice cake are all homemade, including braised pork, fish floss, green onions, and garlic, making it flavorful yet not greasy. Located in the original Sakariba area, it was later organized into the Kangle Market by the Nationalist government after the war, allowing food stalls to set up and operate, thus witnessing the historical changes and maintaining traditional flavors, making it a favorite among the older residents of Tainan.
