According to the Guo family, the grandfather's skills were learned from relatives, and regardless of where it started, Rongsheng Rice Cake has now become a family tradition. Mr. Guo, the grandfather, adheres to the traditional Taiwanese character, placing great emphasis on the ingredients and the production process. For example, the soy sauce must be of the highest quality, shiitake mushrooms are sourced from Taiwan, and only the best glutinous rice is selected. Since glutinous rice is not easy to cook, it needs to be soaked for two hours before steaming, and the steaming time and heat must also be closely monitored; otherwise, it will lose the fragrant and chewy original flavor of the glutinous rice. The ingredients for the rice cake include self-made minced pork, shredded fish, green onions, and garlic, giving it a fragrant and chewy texture without being greasy. Located in the original Shakaliba area, it was later designated as the Kangle Market by the Nationalist government after the war, allowing snack stalls to set up operations, witnessing historical changes. It is a traditional taste and a favorite among old Tainan residents.
